A worm is a destructive program. It is similar to a virus by design and is considered to be a sub-class of a virus. A worm replicates from a computer to another by spreading entire copies of itself instead of infecting files or operating systems. Worms spread from computer to computer, but unlike a virus, it has the capability to travel without any human action.
- Eg: A worm could send of copies of itself to the entire list of contacts while sending and mail to a specific address without the knowledge of the user.
- Dues to this, it consumes a lot of system memory or network bandwidth and results them slow performance.
