Gateway may be a device or software running on a computer that connects two or more dissimilar networks with different protocols. It connects network environments that are not alike.
- The gateway accepts the data and message from a computer on a network having a different protocol. It translates and repackages the incoming data and forwards to another network of the different protocol.
